It has been suggested that a cemetery association be formed in Corpus Christi to select, purchase, enclose and lay off in the proper way a new burying ground. It is a fact, and one which the grave digger, Anthony, will testify, that to make a new grave without interfering with old remains is almost an impossibility, except when one enters some private enclosure or goes down on the hill side, and then it is not certain that he won’t find remains. Furthermore the cemetery is in too close proximity to the city, houses now even surround it and if the town grows, and it is likely __________ in that portion, the burying ground will be in the centre of it. It is believed that a suitable location for a cemetery could be had somewhere beyond the Salt lake. The ground ought to be selected, cleared and enclosed at an early day so that trees could be set out this fall. The blocks and plots should be laid off with system and beautified as in other towns, the blocks to be sold and the money to go towards paying the cemetery expenses.
