Anderson, unknown, child of John Anderson
The date of death of this child makes it clear that this infant was born to John James Anderson and his wife Lillian. John James Anderson was a son of Captain John Anderson of Sweden. John James was born December 2, 1859 and spent his life near the waters of the coastal bend. He was keeper of the government beacon light for 25 years and a watchman for 38 years (see his obit Corpus Christi Caller-Times of May 19, 1935, page 15, col. 8). Like his father and many brothers, he was a retired sea captain at the time of his death. A life long resident of Corpus Christi, John James married Lillian Lee Curry on October 4, 1894 (Nueces County Marriage Records, vol. F) and they resided at 908 Park Avenue until their deaths. John James Anderson died May 18, 1935 and his wife Lillian died the following year on October 24. Since this little child had died on September 11, 1909 John and Lillian were survived by only one child—Gertrude Lee Anderson. Their daughter lived in the family home on Park Avenue until her death and never married so John James and Lillian have no leaving descendents. Though this infant’s parents are buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, this little child of John and Lillian rests with many other members of the Anderson family in Old Bayview Cemetery.
