Obituary

Alice Gertrude Beynon

Died in Corpus Christi at 1:00 o’clock, Wednesday, morning, Jan 13, 1875, Alice Gertrude, infant daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Thomas Beynon, age 0 months and 17 days, We tender the bereaved parents our warmest sympathies and beg them to remember that little Gertie is being thus only gathered to the bosom of Him who said, “Suffer little children to come unto me, “ has but escaped the sorrows and temptations of this world to enter upon the enjoyments of a life everlasting and full of glory. It is, indeed, hard to give to the grave an innocent and lovely babe; but death is the inevitable lot of all created mortals, and who shall say that the spirit called from earth to heaven is not incomparable blessed above the one condemned toil and suffer and here through all the vicissitudes of youth, maturity, and old age!

“It died ere the expanding soul
Had ever burnt with wrong desires,
Had ever spurned at heaven’s control
Or ever quenched the sacred fire.â€
