Obituary
Eugene M. Beynon
Citizens of Corpus Christi Pay Last Respects to Deceased.
The last earthly remains of Eugene Meylor Beynon were consigned to their lasting resting place in Old Bay View cemetery Sunday afternoon, the services being conducted by the Rev. A. J. Holworthy, of the Episcopal church under the auspices of the local lodge of Knights of Pythias of which order the deceased was a member. The immense cortege and the large throng in attendance to witness the sad rites over the remains of the departed showed the high esteem in which Mr. Beynon was held by his fellow citizens, for there was none more upright than he, none more willing to lend a helping hand to his fellowmen, and none more industrious and kind hearted. The services both in the church and at the grave side were impressive and soul stirring. The singing and the beautiful K of P. services added solemnity to the occasion and the huge concourse listening to the words of the rector were hushed into a silence that made every word audible. Woodmen, members of A.O.U.W. and of C. C. Fire Department were also present, the deceased having belonged to those organizations, being a charter member of Security Hose Co. Flowers were there in profusion, the gifts of loving and admiring friends. Eugene Meylor Beynon, was born in Corpus Christi a little over 38 years ago and at the time of his death was aged 38 years and 10 months. He died at his home of the Bluff, Saturday after an illness of only eleven days. The deceased was engaged with his father and brother in the livery and undertaking business, and was exposed to all kinds of weather. About nine years ago he married Miss Nora Dority and two children blessed the union—both boys, Eugene Thomas, aged 8 years, and a baby aged about 7 months. The deceased was the eldest __________ Mr. And Mrs. Thomas Beynon, and besides the parents, who are still living, he leaves behind a loving wife, the two children, two brothers, A.H. Beynon, of El Paso, E. L. Beynon, of this city, and two sisters, Ella and Grace Beynon. In the death of E. M. Beynon, Corpus Christi loses one of her best and most progressive citizens, and the relatives a loving husband and father, an affectionate son and a kind considerate brother. May he rest in peace.
