AUNT LAURA BOONE, FORMER SLAVE WOMAN, DIED EARLY MONDAY

Aunt Laura Boone, aged Negro woman and known to almost every resident of Corpus Christi for the last decade, died at her home Monday morning at 7:10 o’clock, following an illness which began only the night before.  Heart trouble was assigned as cause of death.

Aunt Laura had worked in days bone by for all the better families of Corpus Christi, had lived here all her life and was a former slave.  Her age was unknown.

There is surviving three daughters and two sons, one of the daughters living in Corpus Christi Fannie __________ at the house _____ woman, 124 Tiger street.

The children are Terry Boone and Mary King of Tombstone, Arizona, Minerva Fitzgerald and Andrew Boone of San Antonio.  All will be present for the funeral, which will be held after definite time of arrival of relatives has been learned. Arrangements will be in charge of David Peel.

AUNT LAURA BOONE BURIED NEXT SUNDAY

The body of Aunt Laura Boone, aged Negro woman who died at her home here Monday morning, is being held at the Peel undertaking parlors pending arrival of two children, Mary King and Terry Boone, from Tombstone, Arizona.

The funeral will not be held until Sunday morning g, at which time it is expected all the children of the dead woman will have arrived in Corpus Christi.

FUNERAL TODAY FOR AUNT LAURA BOONE

Funeral services will be held at 3 o’clock for Mrs. Laura Boone, Negro, known to hundred of Corpus Christi people as “Aunt Laura.† She had lived her for forty-five years, and had served people of the families of the city at various times.

Services will be held at St. Matthew Baptist church, conducted by the Rev. John __________ and the Rev. D. M.  Sapp, former pastor.  The body will be buried in Old Bay View cemetery.
