Obituary

DIED

Burney – In this city, Mar. 19, 1884, at 3:45 p.m., Aphra Elizabeth, wife of D. M. Burney, aged 20 years, 8 months and 6 days. The word of the death of this estimable lady was received on the afternoon of Wednesday with profound regrets and sorrow, not only by her immediate friends, but also by every one in the city.  Born raised and married in our midst, all knew her. Her pleasant and affable manner and goodness of heart endeared her to all.  None knew her without esteem and respect.  Just a year ago these friends who followed her remains to the grave on Thursday assembled at the same church to witness her as a happy bride.

Married, a mother and dead in twelve months, though brief words convey a world of meaning.  She was the only sister of our former co-worker, Mr. Ed. Williams.  The bereaved family have the sympathies of the entire community and of none more than the Caller.  The remains were accompanied to the last resting place by a very large number of people.
