This child was probably a late child born to Henry and Louisa Couling as they would have been middle aged parents by September 1888 when Grover was born. Henry Couling was born in England on September 29, 1845 and was brought to America at a fairly young age as he claims in the 1900 federal census that he came over in 1854. He met and married Louisa Wilson in Nueces County on March 18, 1866. Louisa was born in Missouri on October 22, 1848 and had come with her parents to Texas. Her parents appear to be U. B. and Martha A. Wilson who are also buried in Old Bayview Cemetery with their little grandson Grover. In the 1880 census and their obituaries, U. B. Wilson is listed as born in 1814 in Virginia and Martha as born in 1815 in Indiana and raised in Kentucky. They came to Texas in 1860 and resided primarily in the Nuecestown area. Martha (Mrs. U. B. Wilson) died at the home of Henry and Louisa while they were residing on the Ramirena Ranch in Live Oak County, Texas. Grover’s father Henry Couling was a stockraiser who resided in different areas of south Texas—Live Oak County, Nueces County, and finally Duval County. Henry and Louisa Couling are buried in the Benavides Cemetery where their graves are well marked by stones that bear their birth and death dates. Henry was born September 29, 1845 and died December 9, 1919. Louisa was born October 22, 1848 and died May 18, 1909. They were survived by other children who continued to make south Texas their home.
