This child is listed as the son of Theodore S. Dix and Katy Dix.  Theodore was the son of John James Dix, Sr. and Mary Eliza Hayes (who are also buried in Old Bayview Cemetery).  Theodore married Catherine Farrel on February 20, 1858 (Nueces County Marriage Records, vol. B, page 225).  He was a stockraiser who is found ranching at the Penitas settlement in the 1880 census (ED 118, p. 81A).  In that census Catherine/Katy/Kate lists her parents as natives of Mississippi and herself as a native of Texas, born about 1841.  John W. Dix is among three sons of Theodore S. and Kate Dix who are buried in Old Bayview Cemetery.  Resting with him are also Theodore F. Dix (killed by Lon Hill near Harlingen in March of 1906) and possibly Arthur Dix (born June of 1869).  The Old Bayview Cemetery map lists an “A. Dix†as buried on the grounds, and this would seem to be Arthur as he is related and is not listed in the 1910 census, but is listed as living in 1906 according to the obituary of his brother Theodore F. Dix.
