1.  Obituary

Mrs. Olivia Halsey, 91 one of Corpus Christi’s oldest residents, died at her home at 913 North Carrizo at 3:45 o’clock Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Halsey was born in New Orleans, La, and moved to Nueces county in her childhood. She at one time lived on the Nueces river and at Alice for awhile, but came to Corpus Christi approximately half a century ago and had made her home here since that time. Mrs. Halsey was the mother of five daughters, Mrs. W. B. Hopkins of Corpus Christi, Mrs. Will Wright of Alice, Mrs. Lee Glover of Dallas and Miss Annie Halsey and Miss Alma Halsey of Corpus Christi and one son, W.E. Halsey of Alfred. A staunch member of the Episcopal church, Mrs. Halsey devoted her life to her family and the interests of her church. She was a member of the Dorcas Sewing club, active organization in the late ‘60’s which contributed much to the purchase of the property formerly occupied by the Episcopal church on North Chaparral street. Only one member of this society now survives. Funeral services for Mrs. Halsey will be conducted at 3:30 o'clock this afternoon at the Church of the Good Shepherd with the Rev. Dr. J. W. Sykes officiating. Burial will be in the Old Bayview cemetery under direction of David T. Peel.
