Obituary
Capt. Henry Hawley
Died in Corpus Christi, Tex., January 1, 1904, at 10:10 p.m., CAPT. HENRY HAWLEY, a native of Canada, aged 69 years and 10 months. In the death of Capt. Hawley Corpus Christi and Nueces county loses an old pioneer. Henry Hawley came to Corpus Christi about forty-nine years ago with his father, an engineer of harbor works and dredge inventor, the father having a contract for dredging work near the Shell Banks. The young man, who remained here (his father retuning north,) married Miss Emmaline Stephenson, who survives him, with five children: Mrs. E. R. Dove, of Rockport; Mrs. H. R. Sutherland, Jr. Mifflin K. Hawley and Miss Fay Hawley, of Corpus Christi; Mrs. W. H. Williams, of Muleros, Durango, Mexico. For many years Capt. Hawley was a trusted employee and right had man on the Laureles ranch, then owned by the late Capt.
Mifflin Kenedy, now owned by the Texas Land & Cattle company. For the last several years he has resided in this city, the last year or two almost an invalid. The Caller extends its sympathy to the bereaved family.
