Death Claims Mrs. Hawley
Pioneer Resident of This City Dies Saturday at Her Home Here Mrs. P. E. Hawley, 88, pioneer resident of this section, died at 5:15 o’clock yesterday afternoon at her home 913 Mesquite street, after an illness of several months. Funeral services will be held at 4 o’clock this afternoon from the home with the Rev. E. C. Calhoun, pastor of the South Bluff Methodist church officiating.
Mrs. Hawley is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Hugh R. Sutherland, Mrs. Mabel Williams, Mrs. Livanio Jones, and Mrs. Fay Ross of Corpus Christi. She is the widow of the late Capt. Henry Hawley, who, prior to the Civil war, was engaged in dredging a channel to Aransas Pass, with a contract and agreement to build a toll road from Aransas Pass to Austin. During the civil war he served in the Confederate navy, after which he and his family moved to Corpus Christi. For several years Captain Hawley was foreman at the Kenedy ranch, and the family has lived here since that time.
Mrs. Hawley’s father, James Stephenson, was one of the survivors of the battle of San Jacinto. Pallbearers will be Ed Bagnall, Lorwich Gravett, Isaac Singer, Herman Legge, Bill Landrum and Sam Anderson.
Burial will be in the old Bay View cemetery where Captain Hawley is buried. David T. Peel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. P. E. Hawley
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon for Mrs. P. E. Hawley, 88 pioneer resident of this section and widow of the late Capt. Henry Hawley. Mrs. Hawley died Saturday.
The services were conducted at the home 912 Mesquite street, with the Rev. E. C. Calhoun, pastor of the South Bluff Methodist church, officiating. Burial was in the old Bay View cemetery, where her husband was buried, with arrangements under direction of David T. Peel.
