A Sad Ending
In Wednesday’s issue was omitted mention of the death on Saturday previous of Richard Hemming, a young man about 22 years of age who was crushed to death by the up train at Banquete. As he attempted to throw the brakes he stumbled and fell between the cars. His screams were heard and the train was stopped. When reached he was breathing his last. The _______ his body about half way, literally crushing out his life and had to be backed about four feet in order that the body could be removed. His condition when found indicated that he had caught with his hands some portion of the car and held on; sliding along on the rail while part of his body was under wheel. He was a young man of good habits and an industrious worker. His parents live in Sheffield, Iowa. He came here for the purpose of working for Mr. R. R. Savage, and would have gone with his cattle in the spring to Kansas.
