Obituary

DEATH OF MRS. JOHNSON

AT midnight September 26th, the spirit of Mrs. Lottie Johnson passed away from the darkness of this world into the bright light of eternity.  For days she had suffered in the very jaws of death, begin snatched, as it were, from the grave by the loving hands of her family with the assistance of sympathizing friends, back to life which was destined to be prolonged but a short time.  All that medical aid or assistance from family and friends could do availed naught.  In our issue last week we referred o her case as a most remarkable one.  For fourteen hours artificial respiration was kept up by the assistance of four men, who were relieved every ten minutes.  Had this lagged five minutes, she would then have breathed her last.  At length the spark of life brightened---glowing and bade fair to grow in to former vigor and health.  But she never reallied entirely, Mrs. Johnson was born in Macomb Michigan, and was 47 years old at her death.  She was a loving wife-an affectionate mother.  The funeral services took place at the Episcopal Church and her remains were followed to the grave by a large number of friends and acquaintances.  The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.
