Obituary

DIED, LEONARD —  In this city, of lung trouble, Friday, September 26, 1884, at 1:10 p.m., MR. SAMUEL R. LEONARD, aged 35 years.

The death of Mr. Leonard was not unexpected by his friends who have been watching faithfully by his side for so many weeks.  That it should come was inevitable.  Mr. Leonard was born in New Orleans, La., Sept. 22, 1849.  He came to Corpus Christi several years ago and almost entirely recovered his health.  He returned North but the cold climate forced him again to seek a home in the Sunny South.  He was engaged in business in this city within a few months’ of his death.  He was at all times interested in the welfare and progress of Corpus, wishing every enterprise success inaugurated by our people.  He had many friends here who sorrow over his early death.

The funeral took place from the residence of his mother at 10 a.m., Saturday, and his remains were followed to their last resting place by a large number of friends and acquaintances.  The pall bearers were Messrs. Royall Givens, Jvo. Jonll, James Vaughan, W. R. Spann, Fred Lovenskiold and P. H. Caldwell.

The Caller sympathizes with the bereaved family.
