4.  Notice of death and Memoriam

A telegram was received from Beaumont last night, announcing the death in that place yesterday afternoon of George W. K. Mew, of this city.  Mr. Mew left Corpus Christi about six weeks ago to check up the books of the Texas Tram and Lumber company, as he had done once before, and was taken sick there with pneumonia.  A telegram was received here announcing his severe illness and Mrs. Mew went at once to attend her sick husband.  This morning at 3:45 she left Beaumont with her husband’s remains and is expected here on tonight’s train.  The Knights of Honor of which lodge deceased was a valuable member, will take charge of the remains on its arrival.  Mr. Mew came to Corpus Christi about sixteen years ago from London, but during the past few years has been absent most of the time railroading in Mexico.  He leaves, besides a loving wife, several small children to mourn his sad death in the prime of his life.  Mr. Mew is well known here and along the line of the Mexican National railroad, where he made many friends.
