Funeral of Ernest Petzel
The funeral of Ernest R. Petzel, aged 24 years, son of Otto Petzel, who died at the Spohn hospital last night, took place at 1 o'clock this afternoon. The services were at the home of Mr. wm. Petzel on Staples street, the interment being at New Bay View* cemetery. The young man came to his death through the accidental discharge of a double-barrel shotgun in the hands of his companion, Mart Howell, last Friday afternoon, Jan 15, both loads entering his body and frightfully mutilating it. The accident happened on the Petronilla ranch about 22 miles west of the city, while the young men were out hunting. He was brought to the Spohn hospital at once and for a time it seemed that he might recover, but last night he took a turn for the worse, gangrene set in and he passed away about 10:30 o'clock last night. The deceased leaves a father and three sisters, Miss Maude Petzel of Houston, Miss Hattie Petzel of Corpus Christi and Mrs. Clarence Baker of Butte City Mont.
