Obituary

Death of Ernest Roscher

After a lingering illness of two weeks, Mr. Ernest Roscher, a well known citizen of Corpus Christi, passed away at his home on the Bluff August 30 at 1:40 A. M.  Deceased was a native of Saxony, Germany, where he was born on April 16, 1849.  Thirty six years ago he moved to Corpus Christi, where he was later married to Miss Lucy Gold, sister of F. M. Gold, who preceded him to the grave sixteen years ago.  Of this union six children were born and survive them, viz: Mrs. D. A. Darby, Hanna, Lillie, Edgar, Herman and Lucy.  Mr. Roscher, during his residence here followed the vocation of cabinet maker and was a proficient artisan.  He closed his shop three weeks ago.  He was a man who was well and favorably known here.  Besides his children he leaves one brother in Germany.  His funeral took place from his late home on the bluff same afternoon at 5:00 o'clock, interment in old Bay View cemetery by the side of those of his wife.  The bereaved family have the sympathies of their many friends in their sad loss.
