1.  News item, 1898

Mr. H. F. Stevenson received the appointment of U. S. Commissioner, Western district of Texas, this week, position formerly held by Mr. F. E. Wells.  The Caller extends its congratulations to one young man, who was taken by surprise.

2.  Obituary

Death of Henry Stevenson
The death of Henry Stevenson, a native of Corpus Christi, occurred in San Antonio Sunday night. Mr. Stevenson was 37 years of age and had been in ill health for the past three months.

He had been away from Corpus for the past ten years, most of the time being at various points in North Texas and Oklahoma City. During his residence in this city, he was a member of the firm of the Bluntzer Hardware Company, and was also for several years employed in the law office of G. R. Scott.

The remains will be accompanied here by his brother, Alex Stevenson, and his sister, Miss Annie Stevenson, both of whom live in Eagle Pass. The body is expected to arrive on this afternoon's Sap train from San Antonio. The funeral will occur Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock from the Church of the Good Sheperd. Rev. J. W. Sykes, officiating. Interment will be made in the Knights of Pythias lot in the New Bayview cemetery*.
