Interment source:
Bay View Cemetery Association, Corpus Christi, Texas. Record of Interments
NO HEADSTONE
Speculation
Unfortunately there is little evidence to allow for identification of this individual at this time. There is no stone to offer a name or specific dates of birth and death. The only known record that is evidence of this burial is found in the interment records of the Bayview Cemetery Association which simply refers to the interment of a "Negro brakeman". Thus the record does indicate that he is a member of the African-American community which actually lost a number of its members who were brakemen for the railroads at this time. This gentleman is listed in the interment records as the last entry of 1908, but no exact day or month is given. There are no extant copies of the Corpus Christi Caller from that time so no announcement of the death has yet been found, though it may have been carried in other papers of Texas because it involved a railroad accident.
