1.  Marriage

Mabel Hawley Williams

"A Pretty Home Wedding"

Williams-Hawley—

In Corpus Christi, Texas, at the residence of the bride's parents, Wednesday morning, May 10, 1899, at 6:30 o'clock, by Rev. J. N. Linn, Mr. W. H. Williams, of Durango, Mexico, to Miss Mabel Hawley, of this city.  The wedding was a very quiet one, and was a surprise to many people, the friends of the couple only being apprised of the event but a few days previous.  Both the bride and groom were raised in this city and stand high in the community.  The bride is the third daughter of Capt. Henry Hawley and with her sweet disposition has won innumerable friends.  The groom is a young man of sterling integrity and is in every way worthy of the prize he now claims for his won.  Miss Jennie Lege, cousin of the groom acted as maid of honor, and Mr. N. G. Gravett, cousin of the bride officiated as best man.  The bride was gowned in a becoming costume of green novelty goods, trimmed with white silk, hat and gloves to match.  The ceremony being concluded, congratulations were showered on the happy couple who drove to the Aransas Pass depot and left for their future home in Durango, with the best wishes of a host of friends.
