This child is most likely the offspring of William A. Woessner and Virginia Wilmot who married August 29, 1900 (Nueces Marriage Records vol. F page 543).  Ancestors from both the Woessner and Wilmot sides of the family are also buried in Old Bayview.  Virginia is the daughter of George Wilmot and Maria Jesusa Gomez who are both buried in Old Bayview.  She appears in the 1900 census, taken in June prior to her marriage to William.  That record (1900 census of Nueces County, ED 130 page 131B/sheet 11) lists Virginia as a widow with three children.  She has returned to the use of her maiden name and indicates that she was born in May of 1867.  She says her father is from the English speaking part of Canada, and her mother is from Mexico.  Apparently the father of her children was also a native of Mexico according to the census record.  Virginia Wilmot Woessner died in Nueces County on February 5, 1951.  At the time of her death she was at the home of her daughter "Mrs. A. E. Ruis" of 3826 Rojo Courts.  Her obit says that she had been a resident of Violet for some 44 years.  The obit also says that she was born February 7, 1864 (note discrepancy with 1900 census record) in Roma, Texas where her father was a rancher at the time before moving to Corpus Christi.  Her one surviving son is listed as Raymond Woessner of Corpus Christi.  However, in the 1900 census, Virginia has a "Raymond" listed as living in the household under his mother's maiden name of Wilmot.  This Raymond is recorded as born October 1897 and Mexico is listed as his father's place of birth so it may be that Virginia and William Woessner had no children of their own, but William simply adopted the children born to Virginia prior to his marriage to her.  The one child William and Virginia would have had is the one buried in Old Bayview.  The notations for that child specifically list the father as William Woessner.  William is the son of John Martin and Anna Woessner from Germany.  In the 1860 census of Nueces County (p. 287A) he is listed with his widowed mother as "Willie" (only 5 years old) and a native of Texas.  William is also listed with his brother Charles H. Woessner in the 1900 census prior to his marriage to Virginia.  In that census (E. D. 132 page 148A), he is listed as Willie A. Woessner, born January of 1853, single, and a "tinner".  This would normally mean that he worked in tin (a tinsmith).  William must have died early in the marriage as Virginia is listed again as a widow in the 1920 census (E. D. 174 page 14B line 95) where she is living alone with her brother John and his family on one side and her brother Sam and his family on the other side.  It may be that William A. Woessner is also buried in Old Bayview, but that record has not been found yet (June of 2006).
